Residents of Wigtownshire were treated to a heart-warming display of community spirit this week, as the Galloway Action Team joined forces with Incredible Edibles and pupils from Stranraer Academy Learning Centre to plant apple trees at McMasters Road Park.

The initiative, championed by both charities, aims to bring lasting benefits to the local area, ensuring that generations to come can enjoy fresh apples and a greener environment. Norval Dampney from Incredible Edibles provided expert guidance on planting techniques, while enthusiastic pupils from Stranraer Academy Learning Centre eagerly rolled up their sleeves to help position and plant the young trees.

Speaking at the event, organisers expressed their hope that the newly planted apple trees would become a focal point for the community, encouraging outdoor activity, environmental stewardship, and healthy eating. The project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between local charities and schools, and the positive impact such efforts can have on shared public spaces.

Local residents are invited to keep an eye on the trees as they grow and to look forward to the day when McMasters Road Park will be brimming with delicious apples for all to enjoy.
